Updated

How it works

The format stays familiar to your league; PikSheet keeps the weekly mechanics clear and consistent.

  • 1The pool covers the 11 College Football Playoff games in four rounds: First Round, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championship. The games are set for you.
  • 2The commissioner chooses the pick types: the winner, the spread, or both, with the total (over/under) as an optional add-on. Members pick every open game for every pick type.
  • 3The four first-round games open on Selection Sunday, December 6. A game whose teams aren't set yet stays locked, so the top four seeds' quarterfinals open once the first round is played, and each later round opens as its matchups are decided. PikSheet reminds members when new games are ready.
  • 4A correct pick scores its round's points: by default 1 in the first round, 2 in the quarterfinals, 3 in the semifinals and 4 in the title game.
  • 5Picks lock by round at its first game (the default) or game by game at kickoff. Each round has its own standings, and every round's points add up overall.

Member flow

Members see the current round, pick every open game for every pick type, and can change any pick until it locks.

Field reveal

After lock, the pool can see who picked what without chasing text threads or screenshots.

Scoring

Game results update the leaderboard according to this format's rules and history.

Playoff example (default round points)

A quick scoring example for this format.

  1. 1.First round, MIA 10–3 at TA&M: MIA, MIA +3 and Under 48.5 all hit → 3 × 1 = 3 points
  2. 2.Quarterfinal, MIA 24–14 vs OSU: MIA +7.5 and Under 39.5 hit, OSU misses → 2 × 2 = 4 points
  3. 3.Semifinal, MIA 31–27 vs MISS: MIA and Over 52.5 hit, MISS +3 misses → 2 × 3 = 6 points
  4. 4.Championship, IU 27–21 vs MIA: IU and MIA +7.5 hit, Under 47.5 misses → 2 × 4 = 8 points
  5. 5.Those four games: 21 points from 9 of 12 picks.

How to win a CFP Pick'em pool

Strategy that separates the season winners from the pack.

  • 1The later rounds decide the pool. At the default points each pick type is worth 4 points in the first round, 8 in the quarterfinals, 6 in the semifinals and 4 in the title game.
  • 2With round locks, every pick in a round locks at that round's first kickoff. Set the whole round before its first game, not game by game.
  • 3A bye isn't a guarantee. The top four seeds sit out the first round, then face a team that has just won a playoff game; weigh that before taking a top seed to cover.
  • 4Come back every round. Quarterfinal matchups aren't set until the first round ends, and a game you haven't picked when it locks scores nothing.

What the commissioner controls

The games are set for you: all 11 playoff games. Every other setting is editable until the playoff opens on Selection Sunday, December 6.

  • Pick types: winner, spread, or both, with the total (over/under) as an optional add-on
  • Pushes: count as nothing (default), as a win, or as a loss
  • Round points: ×1 to ×10 per round (default ×1, ×2, ×3, ×4)
  • Lock mode: each round at its first game (default) or each game at kickoff
  • Tiebreaker: total points in the title game (default) or off
  • Entry fee (optional — you collect, we don't touch it)
  • Max entries per member

CFP Pick'em pool FAQ

What is a CFP pick'em pool?+

A pool on the College Football Playoff only: members pick all 11 playoff games, one round at a time, from the first round to the national championship. Later rounds score more, and the most points after the title game wins.

Do I have to fill out a bracket before the playoff starts?+

No. You pick each round once its matchups are set, so a first-round upset never wrecks your quarterfinal picks. Games whose teams aren't known yet stay locked until they are.

How is CFP Pick'em different from Bowl Pick'em?+

CFP Pick'em is the 11 playoff games, picked round by round, with standings for every round and overall. Bowl Pick'em puts all 47 postseason games, the 36 bowls plus the playoff, on one sheet with one standings table.

Can we pick against the spread or on totals?+

Yes. The commissioner chooses the winner, the spread, or both, and can add the total (over/under) to either. Spreads and totals come from the sportsbook and are set once, when a game opens for picks, so everyone picks against the same number.

How are ties broken?+

Entries level on points rank by correct picks, then by pushes. With the tiebreaker on (the default), members predict the title game's total points once its matchup is set, and the closest prediction breaks a tie in the Championship round and overall. Earlier rounds have no tiebreaker, so ties there share places.
